Windows XP or Vista
- Click the Start menu on your computer taskbar.
- Select Control Panel.
- Double-click Add or Remove Programs (on XP) or Programs and Features (on Vista).
- Select Google Gears in the list of programs.
- Click the Remove button.
If you've installed Google Chrome, Gears is installed by default. To uninstall Gears for Google Chrome, you'll need to uninstall Google Chrome.
Linux
- Open Firefox.
- Click the Tools menu.
- Select Extensions (Firefox 1) or Add-ons (Firefox 2 or later).
- Select Google Gears in the list of programs.
- Click Uninstall.
- Restart Firefox.
Mac OS X
- Firefox
- Open Firefox.
- Click the Tools menu.
- Select Extensions (Firefox 1) or Add-ons (Firefox 2 or later).
- Select Google Gears in the list of programs.
- Click Uninstall.
- Restart Firefox.
- Safari
- Quit Safari.
- In Finder, open your Applications folder.
- Open the folder named Utilities.
- Open Terminal.
- In Terminal, enter the following command (including the quotes): '/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Gears.plugin/Contents/Resources/uninstall.command'
- Press Enter.
- Enter your password when prompted.
Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6.0
- Select Settings.
- If present, select the System tab.
- Select Remove Programs.
- Select Google Gears from the list.
- Click Remove.
- Restart your device.
After uninstalling, you'll no longer have offline access to applications that require Gears. Uninstalling won't remove any offline information you currently have on your system.
